Namibia Strengthens Economic Leadership with New Team Namibia Board Members

Windhoek, Namibia – In a strategic move to boost economic development and local industry, Team Namibia has appointed four new members to its board, enhancing representation across key sectors. The new members include Ingram van Heerden from Africa Online, Iyaloo Hamata of Brand Namibia, Rosina Shiimbashike of the Namibia Standards Institution, and Panduleni Shivute of JJ Nam Chemicals.

The appointments bring expertise in technology, national branding, standards, and manufacturing, signaling Team Namibia’s commitment to supporting local production and broadening economic participation.

Chairperson Sidney Hanstein emphasized the importance of collaboration across sectors. “We are proud to welcome these organisations and the leaders they have sent to us. Collaboration across sectors is essential to building a competitive and resilient economy,” he said.

Founded in 2003, Team Namibia promotes the consumption of locally produced goods and services, aiming to retain capital within the country, create jobs, and strengthen industrial capacity. The organization noted that the expanded board aligns with Namibia’s broader goal of economic diversification and reduced reliance on imports.

Team Namibia plans to continue advocating for local procurement across consumers, businesses, and government institutions as part of its strategy to support domestic industry and long-term economic growth. Analysts suggest that these measures could play a key role in boosting Namibia’s economic resilience amid global market fluctuations.
