Dar City showcase top-class performance in Pretoria

Dar City, a basketball club from Tanzania, have announced themselves on the continental stage with a commanding run of performances, underlining their growing reputation in African basketball. Prior to facing East African rivals, they had already defeated Johannesburg 88–80, sending a strong early message to the rest of the competition.

The Tanzanian side carried that momentum into their latest Basketball Africa League (BAL) fixture, securing a crucial 90–85 win over Nairobi City Thunder in Pretoria.

In a high-intensity and fast-paced contest, Dar City combined tactical discipline with composure in key moments, particularly in the closing stages, to edge out their Kenyan opponents.

Nairobi City Thunder started brightly and created several scoring opportunities, but inefficiency in front of the basket proved costly. Dar City capitalized, steadily asserting control through structured play and defensive organization.

What stood out was Dar City’s cohesion as a unit, effective ball movement, resilient defense, and clinical finishing all contributing to a well-rounded performance. Their display reflects not only strong preparation but also a clear intent to compete at the highest level of the BAL.

This victory strengthens their position in the tournament and signals the continued rise of East African basketball on the global stage, with Dar City emerging as a serious contender.

Overall, it was a composed and authoritative showing, one that confirms Dar City’s ability to challenge some of Africa’s top teams.
